Virginia native, SJ McDonald is an artist and writer with music that blends her unwavering honesty with the vibrant spirit of 90s and 2000s country. SJ made the move to Nashville in 2017 to pursue her passion for songwriting at Belmont University. For the past six and a half years, she has paid the bills and fueled her passion for the stage by performing on Lower Broadway. SJ has continued to release music independently, with her latest tune, “Break A Cowboy,” garnering editorial playlist attention.
McDonald is also focused on collaborating with fellow artists, co-writing and garnering cuts with major label artists such as Mackenzie Carpenter and Mae Estes, who saw success with "Die in a Bar" on her debut EP this past spring.
Throughout her time in Nashville, SJ has hustled to make a name for herself as both a rising vocal force and as a writer with a knack for stirring emotions and inspiring connection through her music, and that’s country music.
